After four months of testimony the Crown and Defence made closing arguments at the Paul Bernardo murder trial. The Defence continued to advance it’s position that Bernardo wasn’t present when 14-year-old Leslie Mahaffy and 15-year-old Kristen French died. The Crown said that was a complete fantasy. The jury took less then eight hours to decide who was telling the truth. Paul Bernardo was found guilty on all charges.
Outside the courthouse the families of Leslie and Kristen spoke to the media about finally getting some closure in the horrible tragedy that had taken their daughters.
Spectators booed and heckled Bernardo as he was taken from the courthouse in a court services van. He was automatically sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years on the murder charges but Bernardo would have to come back to court to be sentenced on his other charges.
